Nintendo’s at it again, folks. So, they’re all like, “Hey, pre-orders for Switch 2 games are up!” right alongside console pre-orders. Classic move, right? I found myself doing that weird scroll to check out the “Game file size” section. Why? No clue. Maybe it’s just this thing I do. Anyway, some of these game files—wow, they’re huge! More like the size of PC games than those puny little Switch ones. I mean, really?
Makes sense, though. This next-gen console is beefy enough to handle 1080p and all that jazz, super smooth FPS included. But, here’s the kicker: a couple of games and bam! There goes your 256 GB storage. Poof. And just to give you an idea of what we’re dealing with, I mean—seriously—those upcoming ports? Altogether, we’re chatting over 300 GB. Yep, time to snag a microSD Express card.
Now, I get it. Buying extra storage for a console you don’t even have yet might sound bonkers. Really, I do. But think about it—grabbing the chunkiest microSD Express card your budget allows isn’t such a bad call. They’re quicker than their older counterparts, not to mention pricier. Oh, and a little FYI: your old microSD cards? Yeah, forget about using them with the Switch 2, unless you’re just into looking at your old screenshots and video clips. Weird, right? But such is life.
