Nintendo Releases – June 5, 2025 – Updates

Did you ever get that strange sense that the Switch 2’s launch is a bit like the Wii U? I mean, just in terms of the games lineup? But hey, this week, more original Switch games are coming out. Isn’t that something?

So, I dug back into my old notes from when the first Switch came out—March 2, 2017, if you can believe it. I remember there were way more games for the new console compared to the old one back then. Like a whole 2:1 ratio, even. But now? Now it’s not that wild. Yeah, there are 28 (or is it 29?) Switch 2 games for its first day in Japan, but get this: 40 new releases for the OG Switch in North America and Europe. Most of those are, well, what you’d call ‘slopmongers.’

You know the drill by now: Mario Kart World, Welcome Tour, and even a couple of Zelda games getting that sweet Switch 2 polish. Oh, and some pay-upgrade deals for two other Zelda games—can’t forget those. Plus, Fast Fusion, Hitman, Street Fighter 6, and dual releases like Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (with its upgrade tag) and Deltarune (which doesn’t have one, so don’t hold your breath). But what’s this new Picross from Jupiter? I kinda wanna know more, it’s gnawing at me.

Stuff we didn’t see last week was Namco’s Super World Court right before Archives 2 kicks in with Riiiiiiiiidge Racer—a classic, right?

Oh, and if you’re wondering about that EGGCONSOLE game outside Japan, I’ll just say… probably not gonna happen.

North America

Switch 2

• Mario Kart World – Prices hitting US$79.99 and C$109.99. Feeling flushed yet?
• The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Edition – Another $79.99 to consider.
• Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition – $69.99 price tag making you think twice?
• The Legend of Zelda: BotW Switch 2 Edition – Nearly identical price. Decisions, right?
• Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma – Sitting at $69.99/$89.99, but do you need it?
• Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time – A cool $62.58. Maybe?
• Street Fighter 6 – Just $39.99 if you fancy a fight.

• Rune Factory: Guardians of Azama – $59.99/$79.66. Ugh, so many versions.
• Deltarune – $24.99/$32.99… but not until Wednesday. Patience is a virtue?
• Pick through the other indie gems and sequels on sale. Ever felt a rabbit hole calling your name at midnight? That’s how these listings feel.

Europe

• Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition – At €69.99/£59.99, it’s tempting… or not.
• Hogwarts Legacy – It’s there for €59.99/£49.99. Need a spellbinding experience?
• Hitman WoA Signature Edition – Just in case you want to play stealthily, it’s €59.99/£54.99.

Switch 1

• The Red Bell’s Lament – Your weekday purchase at €49.99/£44.99. Hump day joy?
• Fairy Whale, Horrorillo Brainrotillo… Seriously, I can’t make some of these titles up. Ah, the wonders of the gaming world.

Japan

Switch 2

• Mario Kart World – ¥8980. Is this the winner in your kart race?
• Shine Post: Be Your Idol – For ¥8800. Because sometimes you want quirky, non-western titles too.

Anyway—wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, Switch game madness. Feels like a never-ending arcade frenzy, doesn’t it?
