Oh man, where do I even start with this? Gearbox Software finally spilled the beans that Borderlands 4 is gonna have this thing everyone’s been yakking about—Photo Mode. But hold on, it’s not dropping right off the bat when the game hits the shelves on September 12. Nope, they’re making us wait. Seriously, why do game devs always do this?
What even is Photo Mode, you ask? Well, grab a seat. It’s for those epic screenshots where you can mess around with all sorts of filters and depth effects. I guess folks love taking dramatic pics of their pixel adventures, and I’m not judging. Okay, maybe a bit. Anyway, the whole craze makes some sense, considering how games are pretty much eye-candy these days. Disappointing though—it’s not here at launch.
Oh, and shoutout to Graeme Timmins, the creative brain behind all this. He hopped onto social media (as one does) and was like, “Yeah, guys, Photo Mode’s coming later, not sorry.” Well, maybe he didn’t put it that way. But apparently, they had their priorities set on other bits of the game—those things you actually see while shooting baddies in the face. I guess stuff like that matters?
Timmins even mentioned they’re working on more vital game features first. Something about “moment-to-moment experiences”? Sounds like corporate speak for “we were really busy.” But hey, deep down, I think we all get it. Sort of.
Let’s rewind a sec—Borderlands 3 did have Photo Mode, but only on PC at first. And don’t get me started on Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, which was an early adopter. I was kinda hoping Borderlands 4 would follow suit, especially with its snazzy Unreal Engine 5 graphics. Is it weird that I still hold out some hope? Probably, but here I am.
Okay, listen, I know Photo Mode isn’t a deal-breaker. Sure, it’s fun for those insta-perfect snapshots, but it’s not like I can’t play without it. Plus, think about it—all those action-packed moments probably needed a bit of spit and polish before throwing in a photo feature. Makes a bit of sense when you consider all the other fancy features they’re promising.
Speaking of promises, Borderlands 4 seems to be shaping up as a big hitter. It’s dropping on Xbox, PC, PS5, and even the new Nintendo Switch 2 (surprise!). With a storyline about vaulted hunters on some jacked-up planet ruled by… The Timekeeper? Sounds intense.
Anyway, price tags are set—$69.99 for the standard version, and if you’re feeling fancy, $129.99 for the Super Deluxe Edition. What do you even get in that? A gold-plated virtual handgun? Guess we’ll find out, but whatever it ends up being, prepare your wallets.
Alright, that’s enough rambling from me. Fingers crossed this Photo Mode thing makes it in sooner rather than later. But if not, well, at least the core game should rock, right?
