Alright, so picture this. Nintendo just dropped a bombshell on Tuesday—or was it Wednesday? Anyway, they announced that Drag x Drive, this crazy wheelchair basketball game, is gonna hit Switch 2 on August 14. Same day Madden NFL 26 makes its entrance. Coincidence? Who even knows.
So, what’s the deal with Drag x Drive, right? It’s all about showing off those mouse controls on the new system. Honestly, it’s priced at $19.99, so not like a bank-breaker or anything. Why that number? Could be a marketing thing, or maybe Nintendo just rolled a dice. August isn’t usually buzzing with video game releases, so maybe this is their way of keeping things spicy on Switch 2’s lineup post-launch. Oh, they’re dropping a Kirby game too with something called Star-Crossed Land, involving these Mouthful Modes. Don’t ask, because I’ve got no idea how that works.
July, though, is when things get a bit meatier. Donkey Kong Bananza—funny name, right?—is set to launch, along with a revamped Super Mario Party Jamboree. Again, it’s this mix of old and new. Keeping players on their toes or just a happy accident?
Fast-forward to September, and Nintendo seems to be catching their breath. No headliners scheduled. Instead, third-party games are stepping in. Titles like Borderlands 4 and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles—names that are mouthfuls in themselves—and maybe even Daemon x Machina are coming through.
October’s a different story with Pokémon Legends: Z-A lined up. Another hybrid release between the Switch and Switch 2. And speaking of planning ahead, 2025 is peeking over the horizon. Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, both waiting in the wings with no clear dates. September could be prime for a Metroid Prime drop, as cheesy as that sounds.
And there’s a lot of speculating here—Kirby Air Riders might bridge the fall gap. Meanwhile, third-party wonders like Hades 2 and Hollow Knight: Silksong, plus Call of Duty—which apparently comes out annually like clockwork—add to the variety. Not to mention Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is lurking around for a “winter” release. When’s winter, really? It could slip into early 2026 for all we know.
Nintendo might also sprinkle in those retro GameCube gems via their online expansion. Imagine having a nostalgic blast with Super Mario Sunshine or Luigi’s Mansion. Such classics. And sure, while we can kinda map out 2025’s game flow, we all know how Nintendo loves to toss in surprises. Keeps life interesting, right?
