Rebecka Coutaz, the general manager at DICE, has recently stepped into a bigger role, taking charge of Criterion, a UK-based development team.
According to a report by GamesIndustry.biz, Coutaz now holds the titles of VP and GM of Battlefield Studios Europe. Criterion has been a key player in contributing to EA’s premier shooter series starting with Battlefield 1 in 2016. They will keep collaborating with teams from Motive and Ripple Effect in the U.S. to continue this legacy.
Coutaz’s journey with DICE began in November 2021 when she joined as VP and GM, bringing with her experience from her previous leadership role at Ubisoft’s Annecy studio.
Reflecting on her time at DICE, Coutaz shared, “Since I joined DICE in 2021, I’ve had the privilege of working with an incredibly talented and diverse team. I’m truly honored to embrace this expanded leadership position, where I’ll be steering the future of two major studios, each with their unique and rich backstories.”
She expressed enthusiasm about the new role, stating, “DICE and Criterion have been at the forefront of the European gaming scene, and my aim is to empower the teams to push the envelope, innovate, and ultimately enhance player experiences. By harnessing the creativity from both studios, in tandem with Motive and Ripple Effect, we plan to develop and expand the Battlefield franchise on a global scale for the generations to come. It’s an exciting time as we shape what’s next for Battlefield, and I’m eager to bring passionate individuals on board for this journey.”
