Alright, so picture this: Electronic Arts, yep, those guys, are finally pulling the plug on Anthem next year. I mean, can you believe it? January 12th, 2026, mark your calendars or, you know, don’t. Anyway, they wrote this whole thing on their website about it. You can’t buy in-game currency anymore, but if you’ve got some, go wild until it’s all gone.
Oh, and they’re all like, super grateful or whatever for everyone who stuck around. Kind of nice, I guess, but also… well, you get the point.
Now, here’s the kicker. They’re saying nobody’s getting the boot because of this. But who knows, right? Things might change and people could still end up job hunting. It’s all murky.
Anthem was like BioWare and EA’s shot at a live-service game. Big dreams, but it landed kinda flat on its face back in 2019. And man, the drama around its development — yikes. Turns out, they had plans to spruce it up, even talked about this whole Anthem Next thing. But, surprise, surprise, it got canned too.
So, is that the end of the road for Anthem? Seems like it. Weirdly enough, I’m kind of nostalgic about it. Not sure why. Anyway, that’s the story — a bit of a mess but that’s life, right?
