Janos Flösser, who once led the team at IO Interactive responsible for the Hitman series, has embarked on a new journey with his latest studio, Wombo Games. He recently unveiled their upcoming game, a strategy roguelike named Raiders of Blackveil, slated to hit Early Access this summer.
The story of Wombo began in 2023. Flösser himself boasts an impressive resume, having spent nearly a decade at IO Interactive from 1998 to 2008. He then took on the role of Chief Creative Officer at Square Enix, where he worked until 2016, before heading over to become CEO at Crey Games. Beyond these roles, he’s been involved with Promentum Capital as a partner and eventually a senior partner.
Flösser shared some insights with GamesBeat, “Our vision was to maintain a small, agile team and explore the extent of what we could achieve,” he explained. “We kicked things off in July 2023, and now we’re nearing the two-year mark. Remarkably, we developed a playable version of our game in just about six weeks, and our investors have been enthralled ever since. It’s exciting to see such enthusiasm from them, and it’s a first for me to witness investors so captivated by both the team and the concept. Over the past two years, we’ve secured funding three times… Our primary goal is to craft the perfect game tailored for the right audience.”
