World of Assassination, the centralized hub for the latest Hitman trilogy content, has drawn an impressive 75 million players so far. This success story comes courtesy of IO Interactive, the mastermind developer and publisher behind the franchise, who recently disclosed that the game saw a staggering one million active users during December 2024.
Originally launched as Hitman 3 in 2021, World of Assassination has since evolved. IO Interactive expanded the game to feature content from both the 2016 Hitman reboot and its 2017 sequel, rebranding it to provide a more comprehensive experience.
“The ongoing popularity of Hitman World of Assassination can be attributed to its continuous updates and a passionate player base,” stated IO in a recent announcement. “With new content set to debut in 2025, fans of the series can anticipate many more thrilling hours immersed in the Hitman universe.”
In an interesting twist, IO recently added a mission where players have the chance to eliminate iconic 80s and 90s action star Jean-Claude Van Damme. So far, 40% of those who attempted to take down the movie star have been successful.
