I don’t really know why, but I’ve always had a soft spot for things that are just a bit offbeat. You know what I mean? Like a crooked picture frame that somehow feels more alive. So, when I heard about Twisted Pixel cooking up Marvel’s Deadpool VR—yeah, I had to pause whatever I was doing. Let’s face it, Deadpool’s already a few fries short of a Happy Meal, and now he’s in VR? This I gotta see.
Turns out, this is the first thing Twisted Pixel’s putting out since Meta took them under their wing last—or was it the year before? Time is a flat circle. Anyway, they’re aiming for a drop “later this year” and—surprise surprise—it’s only for Quest 3 and 3S. Sorry other headset folks, guess you’ll have to catch the action elsewhere. Oh, and here’s a trailer if you’re into that sort of thing.
They’re pitching this as the usual Deadpool chaos. First thing, he’s yanked through a portal to Mojoworld. Why? Who knows. But he sees dollar signs and signs this sketchy contract—doesn’t even bother with the fine print. Classic. Then it’s off on a spree through the Marvel cosmos. Think lots of villains, the famous ones and those B-listers you kinda pretend to remember. It’s meta, but the Marvel kind, not the “VR-is-taking-over” kind.
The game’s all about that wild mix of parkour and combat, something they’ve been fidgeting with since their Path of the Warrior days. And seriously—if you dream it, you can probably live it here. Who needs shooting or stabbing when you can, well, do weirder stuff? Want to sucker-punch a guy while juggling grenades? Totally. Retrieve your own detached limb and chuck it as a weapon? Sure, if gross is your jam. Face-plant an enemy into a propeller? Gruesome, but if it fits your mood, go for it. You’ve got soldiers, demon dogs, and these bizarre lizard dudes all queued up for your twisted pleasure.
We got a sneak peek at an early version of the game—it’s as out there as you’d expect. I was planning just to dabble, but, well, one thing led to another, and here we are.
Now, if all of that sounds like a wild ride, then buckle up. Deadpool’s taking you places—absurd, unpredictable, and a little nuts. But hey, doesn’t that sound like life, too?
