Minisforum recently unveiled its latest lineup of products powered by AMD Ryzen processors, including some intriguing additions to their MoTD and Mini PC series. These new releases promise to pack a punch in terms of performance, thanks to the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU at their core.
Exploring Minisforum’s New AMD Ryzen Offerings
At the "Japan IT Spring Week," Minisforum took the stage to introduce its upcoming products, such as MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and innovative NAS systems. These devices are all equipped with powerful AMD Ryzen CPUs, aiming to deliver top-notch performance for a variety of users.
Unveiling the Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard
Let’s dive into the Minisforum “F1FGM,” an exciting extension of their MoTD series. This motherboard, designed with a sleek mATX form factor, flaunts efficient heatsinks across its VRMs, M.2 slots, and PCH, alongside a neat IO cover. It’s the rightful successor to previous models like the BD770i and BD790i, which were powered by Dragon Range’s "Ryzen 7000HX" series. This time, you get the cutting-edge Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX."
The F1FGM can accommodate configurations with the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, featuring 16 cores and 32 threads, all built on the Zen 5 architecture. This beastly chip can reach speeds up to 5.4 GHz and includes 64 MB of L3 cache. While it’s rated at 55W, Minisforum’s setup allows users to push this mobile powerhouse up to 160W for an enhanced desktop experience.
Additionally, the board supports various CPUs, including an "X3D" variant, with cooling provided by a vapor chamber baseplate, given that these mobile processors lack an IHS. The VRM sports a 13-phase Duet rail design with 60A SPS power stages, promising stability and efficiency.
The motherboard is equipped with four DDR5 DIMM slots, supporting up to a whopping 256 GB of RAM with impressive speeds reaching 8000 MT/s. It features two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 and 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots, one of which boasts Gen5x4 speeds. The X870M chipset, built for mobile-grade performance yet comparable to the B850 series, powers the board. Additional features include two SATA III ports and the latest connectivity options like USB4, 5GbE LAN, and Wi-Fi 7, along with two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
Introducing the Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC
Next in line is the MS-A2 Mini PC, which also utilizes the formidable AMD Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs. An evolution from the MS-A1 series, the MS-A2 shines with upgraded IO options, including three M.2 slots (one convertible to U.2), 10 GbE LAN via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot capable of accommodating a low-profile card.
Unlike the MoTD motherboard, this Mini PC features a slightly different setup with two SO-DIMM slots, supporting up to 96 GB of memory at speeds of 5200 MT/s. The IO ports are comprehensive, with two USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 2, one USB 2.0, two 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and versatile video output options through DP and HDMI.
Dive Into the Minisforum N5 PRO NAS System
Lastly, there’s the Strix-powered "N5 PRO" NAS, driven by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU, which packs 12 cores, 24 threads, and the Radeon 890M iGPU. This NAS is equipped with five 3.5-inch bays, allowing RAID configurations and easy drive management, thanks to its toolless design. It can hold up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs and has a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for additional video capabilities.
Each drive bay can fit up to 22 TB of storage. Plus, the system includes three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (two Gen4x1 and one Gen4x2). Offering robust connectivity, this NAS features 10 GbE and 5 GbE Ethernet ports, along with IO options that include three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum plans to roll out these exciting new products soon, so keep an eye out for further updates!
