Sony tossed out this new game — EXILEDGE — through their China Hero Project at ChinaJoy 2025. So, I saw the gameplay trailer, and, honestly, it feels a bit like Returnal, but, you know, not quite. There’s this stiffness, like they maybe wanted it to be that way? Who really knows these things.
Okay, picture this: you’re zooming around on a motorcycle across some landscape — all post-apocalyptic, the end-of-the-world vibe. And then, bam, you’re fighting these enemies. They remind me of Returnal, but not all smooth and ballet-like. It’s like dodging is a dance move, but the kind where you trip over your own feet. Maybe that’s intentional. Or maybe it’s just me being picky.
Anyway, this game’s cooked up by Enigmatrix Games. Big shoutout to Sony’s backing with their China Hero Project. You’re playing as someone named Alter — like what’s that all about? You’re up against these enemies called “Otherkin.” Sounds ominous, right? And you’re diving (literally, I guess) into these monumental, mysterious Talos towers. Must be something epic hidden in there.
Here’s the boiled-down plot — or maybe it’s not boiled down, because it feels like a lot:
Somewhere in the hazy future, after everything’s pretty much gone belly-up, these gigantic structures — Talos towers — just rocketed up from the ocean. “The Edge,” they call it. It’s like after you lose everything, you find yourself hanging at the edge, quite literally. Anyway, this girl, Zora, who sounds mysterious (because, why not?), is helping our Talos Diver, Alter, to get through this mess. Spoilers? They’re questing to unravel the chaos of “that day.” Whatever that means.
So, what do you reckon? Does EXILEDGE catch your fancy at all? Seriously, drop your thoughts down below.
