Okay, so let’s dive into this crazy world of numbers and games for a second. Capcom, that big-name company from Japan, dropped some wild figures for the three-month stretch ending in June. We’re talking a whooping ¥45.5 billion. That’s yen, by the way, which shakes out to roughly $302.2 million for those counting dollars.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting – or maybe confusing, I guess. It’s a 53.7% jump from the same time last year. Pretty wild, huh? And it seems like the superheroes wearing capes here are their video games. They rattled off titles like Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village, the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Street Fighter 6. I don’t know about you, but Devil May Cry always sounds like the name of a really intense emo band. But apparently, it got a boost thanks to some Netflix anime deal. Wild how anime crosses over into everything, right?
So check this – Devil May Cry 5 has managed to move 10.5 million copies. And get this, 1.7 million of those were just in the last quarter. Resident Evil Village hit 12.2 million, while the fourth installment of Resident Evil scored 10.6 million. Oh, and Street Fighter 6? That bad boy reached five million copies, partially thanks to—wait for it—being on the Nintendo Switch 2. Did anyone see that coming? Or is it just me who missed the memo?
In total, Capcom’s got 14.16 million units shifted in that time span. That’s a 48% leap from the previous 9.53 million. Crazy jumps, I know.
And to top it all off, their operating profit isn’t doing too shabby either. Shot up 90.8% to ¥24.6 billion. That’s around $163.4 million, give or take. Seriously, these numbers are making my head spin. But hey, it seems like they’re doing something right—or maybe just really lucky? Who knows.
