Alright, so Nintendo’s about to drop the Switch 2 like any day now, right? And they’re playing the whole mysterious game, barely giving us scraps about what’s actually new. Typical. I stumbled across this little nugget on the Nintendo Today app – and honestly, no clue why I’m obsessing over it.
Apparently, there’s this funky feature where you can just rewind your game. Yup, you mess up in a platformer or fly off a cliff in Mario Kart 64 (story of my life, seriously), just hit rewind. Like, where was this magic button when I was hurling controllers back in the day?
Oh, and get this – they’re adding CRT filters. You remember those, right? Scanlines and all. Those fuzzy lines that remind you of small TVs and even smaller graphics. It’s like turning the clock back to ’98, except maybe you realize, wow, it wasn’t as sharp as we thought. But hey, nostalgia goggles, am I right?
Now, about those controls. They’re letting us remap ’em for the N64 games on the Switch 2. This is for the Joy-Cons and, wait for it, the actual N64 controller. Both old and new consoles get this, so no one’s left out. Except maybe me when I can’t decide which controller feels right. Decisions, decisions…
Anyway, who knew they’d throw such curveballs, right? Now, if only they’d stop being all secretive about everything else.
