Alright, so here’s what’s up with Assetto Corsa EVO. They kicked it off earlier this year, but—let’s be honest—the PC VR mode was like a bad joke. Not funny, just kinda broken. Fast forward, and yay! We’ve got the 0.2 update now. This one’s supposed to make things slightly less painful for us VR folks. Finally!
So, what’s new? Oh, a truckload of stuff actually. They rolled out seven—yes, seven—new cars. Fancy names like Maserati GT2 and Porsche 911 Turbo. And Mazda MX-5, that one brings back memories. Not that I’ve ever driven it, but you get the feeling, right? Plus, we’ve got two fresh tracks: Circuit of the Americas—which sounds big—and Donington Park.
Oh, and the game’s got dual mode shindigs now. There’s ‘Open Mode,’ where you can just go wild with any car. Sort of like a buffet? Then there’s ‘Career Mode,’ to flex your way through progress and unlocks. Sounds like work meets play, if you ask me.
But let’s talk VR updates. So, they’re calling it “step two”—like a sequel, only less exciting but more useful. Visual magic includes things like new grass—yes, grass!—and “dynamic” mirror modes. Plus, DLSS is there to show off or something.
Switching to VR or three-screen setups doesn’t kill DLSS anymore. I mean, was this a big ask? Maybe it was. Anyway, hopping from flatscreen to VR won’t be as annoying. Or so they say.
Now, real talk: to run this beast on PC VR, you’d better have one heck of a setup. But, hey, improvements are happening! Someone somewhere did a graphics comparison. No idea why I noticed this, but it stuck with me. HYPEVR TV showed off the changes from version 0.16 to 0.2.
KUNOS Simulazioni plans to keep the updates coming—six more before the big 1.0 release drops in, uh, Fall 2025. Fingers crossed, right? We’ll all wait and hope these upgrades make the $32 feel like a bargain. Why did I just think of coffee? Anyway, onward we go.
