NVIDIA and AMD are gearing up to make a splash with their new budget-friendly GPUs next month, aiming to capture the mainstream market.
### NVIDIA & AMD Targeting Mid-Range GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
Right now, those hunting for low to mid-tier GPUs don’t have many choices, especially since the latest models, particularly from NVIDIA, are scarce, driving prices above the usual MSRP. AMD’s RX 9070 series is also in high demand, making it tough to snag a unit at the recommended price. But the tide seems to be turning. According to reports from Benchlife, both NVIDIA and AMD are set to launch new offerings, possibly as early as next month.
Kicking things off with NVIDIA, the GeForce RTX 5060 is rumored to hit the shelves by May 19. This card is expected to offer 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, clocked at a speedy 28 Gbps over a 128-bit memory bus. However, users should brace for a slight increase in power consumption, with a 35W TDP boost over the RTX 4060. Here’s how the RTX 5060 stacks up against its predecessor:
– 25% more CUDA Cores
– Same memory capacity
– Faster GDDR7 memory at 28 Gbps
– Increased bandwidth by 64%
– 30% higher power rating
Over in AMD’s corner, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is set to make an appearance at Computex on May 21, with availability stretching into June. This card houses the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit interface and offers both 8GB and 16GB versions, akin to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. It boasts 2,048 stream processors, half that of the RX 9070 XT, with game clocks set at 2620 MHz and boost clocks reaching 3230 MHz. It’s designed to deliver impressive performance at 1080p and 2K resolutions.
We’ll be on the ground at Computex 2025 to cover the launches and hopefully provide some early insights. The competition in the mid-range GPU market is heating up, and May could be a pivotal month for gamers and tech enthusiasts alike.
