Oh man, so Neat Corp, right? The folks who did that crazy Budget Cuts series, they’re cooking up something new. It’s called Crossings, and it’s like, Norse mythology meets VR chaos. Picture yourself waving around spells and weapons—axes, clubs, all that Viking-age jazz—in the afterlife. Sounds wild? Yeah, thought so.
So here’s the deal: it’s a co-op roguelite. Now, I’m not entirely sure what that means, but think of it like a quest, a vengeance-fueled jaunt through ever-shifting Norse worlds. You bump into other lost souls, but like, no words, just vibes. You’re dodging trolls and draugr, those creepy beings from mythology that always gave me the chills. Just imagine who you’d meet in the Norse afterlife!
There’s magic too. You get to learn new spells and upgrade ancient weapons, like something called the ‘Tooth of Nör.’ I mean, who even thinks of that? It’s like the creators time-traveled to the Viking age for ideas. So you’re blocking, striking, possibly swearing under your breath as you face off against these mythical beasts. It’s kinda empowering, if I’m honest.
Neat Corp describes it all with this vibe: you wake up in this cold, lonely place—somewhere between death and memory, they say. Crazy, right? Your body’s down for the count, but your spirit is like, “Not today!” So you end up in this shifting world, your every move powered by fate. You meet others too—no words, just movement. It’s like survival instinct times ten.
Every step, every punch you throw leaves this mark in the world. Oh, and choices—they’re heavy. Because you’re carrying the weight of the world you left, and it’s not letting go easily.
No release date yet, which is killing me. I want to dive in already! But, you can wishlist this bad boy on the Horizon Store for Quest or hit up Steam for PC VR headsets. And there’s a demo coming during Steam Next Fest from October 14th – 21st. Just a “single-player slice” of the full chaos, but hey, I’ll take it. Can’t wait to see how many times I can get clobbered by a troll.
